If you have questions about web or graphic design in general, feel free to ask any questions (newb questions or difficult ones!) in the web designer forums. This tutorial is sponsored by the Xemion Web Designer Directory. Step 1 This effect is perfect and will work on any body part as long as you set the color code to match with the skin tone of the body of your picture when you fill path in step 2. In this tutorial, I'm going to use a picture of this sexy model. ![]() Step 2 First I'm going to open up her face, I started with a new layer and used the pen tool to traced a shape which blend with the prespective of her whole face. If you want this effect to work to the fullest, you cant just draw any shape like a circle or a triangle. . . The shape has to properly blend with the position of the face, body etc. The color I used to fill path is #E7AC8D. When your picking the colors, pick it from the skin of your picture. ![]() Step 3 The effect that will turn the entire shape into an open skin look, apply this layer style settings: Note: The image I used for the pattern in Pattern overlay came with Photoshop 7.0. Click here to download the pattern pack if you don't have it.
Step 4 Your done but add stitches to make it more realistic. Create a new layer and add the layer style settings found below, now grab the pencil tool with a black foreground and 1px tip. All you have to do is draw lines from the opening to the skin, see picture below for visuals. Note: The image I used for the pattern in stroke came with Photoshop 7.0. Click here to download the pattern pack if you don't have it.
![]() Thats it, you learned the technique, now go open up other spots of the body. ![]()

It is quite interesting but the end result to me appears to be a bit false looking. I'm sure if you tweak it a bit more, you would be able to achieve a more realistic effect.
