In my opinion the easiest web code to learn is PHP. It is alot easier and better than ASP and CF.
How big or deep of a website are you looking to do? Because an HTML editor can get you started easily, and there are programs that easily can let you transform documents into web pages.
Yes, that's right. Html is the easiest to learn and code. You can even google it up and see some online tutorials on how to get started. It's so easy that you don't even need some expert technical experience to get started.
I would suggest that you learn to code in HTML, PHP and Javascript. All of these are common scripting languages and if you want to modify scripts written by other people a basic knowledge will help a lot.
1st client side development - html,css javascript

server side or programming - php (jsp, asp would be bit difficult to start with)
i also think PHP is easy to understand and implement.

thanks
Honestly there are so many options I would recommend that you go with whatever you are most familiar with. If you aren't familiar with any of the options at all then I recommend HTML coding. I am no "true" web designer nor do I work for a web design company but that is my favorite code and I thought it was fairly easy to start learning as opposed to others I've tried including PHP.
